Attractions in Fort Walton Beach & Destin
Located within walking distance of our RV resort, Florida's Gulfarium Marine Show Aquarium is the oldest continuously operated marine show aquarium in the world. The Gulfarium features 14 marine life exhibits, including bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, penguins and turtles
Also just a short walk from Destin West RV Resort, The Boardwalk offers covered picnic area, beach volleyball and lots of shopping, dining and nightlife.
The Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier is yet another attraction you can walk to from our resort. The pier extends 1262 feet into the Gulf of Mexico and is known for the large fish that can be caught right off of it. Snag a hundred-pound tarpon, or tuna, king mackerel, cobia or dolphin without chartering a boat or going out to sea. You can rent a pole and purchase bait, tackle, beverages and snacks at the pier as well. No fishing license is required.
This park and cultural center includes the Indian Temple Mound Museum, Campy Walton Shoolhouse Museum, Garnier Post Office Museum, Fort Walton Temple Mound and the Civil War Museum. View historic artifacts and learn about the area's past in these enriching and interesting museums.
A great family attraction, the Emerald Coast Science Center features exciting hands-on exhibits. Enjoy exhibits like their Color & Light exhibit that demonstrates visible and invisible color, their Hall of Life that demonstrates different systems of the human body, and their Wind Tunnel that lets you fly a model aircraft inside the tunnel to see how airplane controls work.
This museum features aircraft and artifacts from World War I through modern times, with exhibits like the fastest plane in the world—an SR-71 Blackbird, and the biggest bombs, like a Paveway III low-level laser-guided bomb.
Enjoy more than 40 exciting water attractions, like fast water slides, a giant surfable wave inside a half-pipe, a lazy river and a wave pool. The park also has cabanas to rent for when you want to relax in the shade, and great food like pizza, burgers and salads for when you work up an appetite.
This center features go-karts, miniature golf, bumper boats, bungee jumping and lots of other family-friendly thrills. It also has a Kid Country area for younger children to play on smaller, less intense versions of some of the rides.
